Give to Lincoln Day returns for a fifth year on Thursday, May 26. People are encouraged to make a charitable donation to local nonprofits they care about during this 24-hour day of giving. It is one special day when everyone in Lincoln is asked to make a donation to improve our community, showing their support for the organizations that contribute so much to our quality of life.
Give to Lincoln Day aims to encourage philanthropy and build a stronger community. It increases public awareness of local nonprofit organizations, helping the agencies tell their stories and attract new donors.
A $300,000 Challenge Match Fund increases every dollar given
The Lincoln Community Foundation and its sponsors will contribute a match fund of $300,000 for Give to Lincoln Day. The match fund increases every donation made, making every gift even more meaningful. Every nonprofit organization will receive a proportional share of this fund, based on their percentage of the total dollars raised on May 26.
West Gate Bank donor drawings will occur hourly on May 26. An online donor will be selected at random, and $300 will be added to his/her nonprofit gift.
Last year, Give to Lincoln Day raised $3.2 million. More than 12,300 donations were made, supporting 327 of Lincoln’s nonprofit organizations.
“Give to Lincoln Day was an outstanding success last year,” said Barbara Bartle, president of Lincoln Community Foundation. “This community-wide event demonstrates the spirit of giving and is a citywide celebration. By helping nonprofits raise funds, this one-day event helps them carry out their important work.”
More than 300 local nonprofits are participating in this year’s Give to Lincoln Day. From education, arts and culture, crisis services, health, animals, children and youth, you can explore online now by category or specific name to learn more about their programs.
